till the end of the world

notes
It all started when I asked my mother to to cook several times the same cake and to keep the oven sheets used. One day we met and she showed them to me; they were many and all different from each other. The interesting thing was the recurrent presence of a circle that moved on the baking paper, as if it was a trace of a solar eclipse. I shared this observation with her, and I asked her if she wanted to do other of them together: this time we would be guided by the intuition of moving the pie during its cooking, as to impress the baking paper with an overlay of the same circle. This has allowed to have a visual image of the other phases of the eclipse that I imagined. Later on, I involved my mother while I was choosing five of the backing sheets and placing them one after the other on the counter of her kitchen. When I think back to the time when the sequence has been completed I remember that I have viewed and shared with my mother the feeling of being in front of a natural phenomenon, as if the domestic wall dissolved for a moment, offering us a meeting and a synergistic adhesion to the world, almost a “feeling” beyond the powers of ordinary things.
